Private Jet Charter to Delaware

DESTINATION GUIDE

DELAWARE

While often overshadowed by its more famous neighbours Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey, there are more than a few reasons why the USA’s second smallest state is well worth a visit. Delaware boasts a rich colonial history, opulent mansions, rolling hills, easy access to iconic cities like New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC, tax-free shopping and, best of all, charming coastal resorts. Fly direct to Delaware: arrange a private jet charter with Air Charter Service.

The picturesque Brandywine Valley is just north of Delaware’s largest city, Wilmington. Full of rural character, the region is scattered with the riches of 19th-century aristocrats, mostly from one of the USA’s wealthiest families, the du Ponts. Along State Routes 141 and 52 you’ll find grand mansions and pretty gardens, many of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. While the routes are relatively short, you can spend hours – or even days – exploring parks, museums, churches and New World chateaus.

Head south and you’ll reach Dover. Whether you’re a history buff or nurture more modern interests, this small state capital is surprisingly full of things to see and do. It was here, in a tavern called the Golden Fleece, that delegates ratified the US Constitution, making Delaware the first official state. The city is fiercely proud of its past and no trip here is complete without taking in the 18th- and 19th-century architecture of the First State Heritage Park. Alongside relics of the revolutionary age, Dover is also home to the Dover International Speedway where two NASCAR races are held annually. And if you’re a fan of craft beers, a tour of the Fordham & Dominion Brewing Company is a must.

Continue along State Route 1 towards the slower-paced beach towns of southern Delaware. There’s little else to do in these charming enclaves than casually stroll along waterfront boardwalks, taking a refreshing dip in the ocean during humid summer months before lying on the soft sand on one of the wide beaches or sitting in a café and watching the world go by. Each town has its own character; some are lively, especially after the sun has set, while others have such a laid-back vibe that time seems to stand still. There’s more history to be explored in Lewes, possibly the state’s quaintest town, while Rehoboth Beach has a distinctly artistic yet family-friendly vibe. Beautiful Bethany Beach is perfect for a family holiday, however if you’re seeking more of a party atmosphere we recommend the dynamic Dewey Beach.

Delaware is scattered with distinctive hotels, inns and B&Bs – some of which are set within historic mansions. From grand historic hotels to quirky hotel-cross-craft-breweries, there are plenty of characterful luxury properties just waiting to be discovered.

While there are no major international airports in Delaware (the nearest are located in neighbouring Pennsylvania) there are plenty of smaller airfields located throughout the state. To find the best airport to suit your needs, contact our team and we’ll arrange everything you need to charter a private jet to Delaware.
