Private Jet Charter to Arizona

DESTINATION GUIDE

ARIZONA

Arizona is the Wild West as you’ve imagined it. Vast canyons, towering sandstone monoliths and cacti-scattered deserts combine to provide the backdrop for a classic Western adventure. However, it's not all about the natural landscapes; there are Native American settlements and ruins, Old West ghost towns and a touch of mid-century nostalgia along sections of world-renowned Route 66. And then there's the ultra-modern metropolis of Phoenix, artsy Sedona, chilled-out Tucson and a host of other cities which give the state a more 21st-century vibe. Contact Air Charter Service today to arrange your private jet charter to Arizona.

It's impossible to talk about Arizona without celebrating its most famous attraction, the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon. Over 270 miles long, this is one of those places that needs to be seen to be believed – cutting through an otherwise unremarkable landscape, the vast chasm reveals up to two billion years of the earth's geological history. It’s believed the canyon was created over a period of five to six million years, when the mighty Colorado River eroded away layers of rock to reveal multi-coloured cliff faces, buttes, temples and pyramids. Most visitors head to the canyon’s South Rim, where you can set off down into the canyon. Head for the seasonally-open North Rim to experience this incredible natural landscape without the crowds.

The next natural stop-off point after the Grand Canyon is the city of Page. As well as driving along a fantastic section of the canyon’s South Rim, on arrival you can witness spectacular surrounding landscapes including Lake Powell and the winding Antelope Canyon. From here, continue east towards the iconic Monument Valley, which has featured in many-a Western movie and car advert thanks to its sandstone buttes rising up from the valley floor and wild horses roaming the desert-like landscape. This beauty spot is also rich in Native American culture – take a Navajo-guided tour around the valley along the unforgettable 17-mile Valley Drive. Step back in time to an era when folks got their kicks on Route 66 in the towns of Kingman and Williams; and get a sense of what the state was like when the railroad arrived in Flagstaff, today a liberal university town. A little further south is Sedona, an impossibly beautiful city surrounded by red-hued cliffs and rock formations.

Arizona isn't just about spectacular natural landscapes; it's also home to Phoenix, one of the country’s largest cities. This modern metropolis is the state capital, as well as its cultural and economic heart. Museums, entertainment venues, shopping opportunities, culinary wonders and vibrant nightlife venues are plentiful here, but it's the region's spas and golf courses – especially those in the adjacent city of Scottsdale – that really put the region on the leisure map.

While Northern Arizona has the poster child attractions, the lesser-visited eastern and southern regions are also full of highlights. In the east you'll find the White Mountains, which are home to a ski resort and the 200-mile long Mogollon Rim marking the southern edge of the vast Colorado Plateau. Travel south towards the Mexico border and you'll discover a land dotted with towering cacti that’s rich in Western history. Visit the site of the gunfight at the OK Corral in the town of Tombstone and enjoy the distinct Wild West atmosphere, or head to the delightful city of Tucson to discover a mix of Mexican, Native American and Old West architecture.
