Cyprus’ beaches may not be sandy, but they’re beautiful nonetheless. Limassol, Paphos, Ayia Napa and Larnaca are the main beach resorts. On the road connecting Paphos and Limassol, you’ll find the Petra tou Rominou sea stack, where Greek goddess of love Aphrodite is said to have been born. Often overlooked are the Troodos Mountains and the Byzantine churches and Greek Orthodox monasteries nestled within them. Hike 6,000 ft to Mount Olympus and take advantage of the fresh air and epic scenery. In the winter, the mountains can be capped with snow – a stunning sight against the sunny blue skies. At the top of Mount Olympus you’ll find the only ski resort in Cyprus, while to the west, Cedar Valley is another beautiful place for walking.
