Today, it’s still a port but also a popular marketplace with restaurants and shops. For more serious retail therapy, shopaholics should head to Ala Moana, the world's largest open-air shopping centre. A few blocks from the Aloha Tower, Chinatown’s laneways have an illustrious history of whalers and immigrant traders; today they’re home to top Asian eateries and eclectic bars.
