Leasing a back-up aircraft for Canada’s busy summer season

Summertime is peak season in the northern hemisphere, so it’s important for operators to have a large enough fleet to take advantage. One year, a major Canadian operator asked us for help leasing a backup aircraft to cover flights from Toronto to the Caribbean.

While high demand was expected, there were no guarantees as to how much business would actually be flown, so the client needed us to negotiate a flexible solution that worked well for both parties.

Arranging a wet lease to cover a grounded plane in Reykjavík

When a leading low-cost airline’s aircraft was grounded in Reykjavík with a failed engine, they asked us to arrange a wet lease to cover its transatlantic route. With a tight deadline and budget, we capitalised on our close relationship with a Boeing 747 operator to negotiate a lease agreement quickly and positioned the back-up aircraft within a day.

Moving post office shipments during the Covid-19 pandemic

During the peak of the pandemic in 2020, a passenger airline asked us to help them lease a cargo aircraft for over 13 months on behalf of their national post office.

With long-haul and transatlantic cargo flights grounded around the world due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, the aircraft was urgently required to move shipments between the post office’s European base, New York and Asia.

Keeping a passenger airline's schedule on track

In 2021, a low-cost carrier asked us to help them lease an aircraft for five days to cover a grounded passenger plane that had been struck by a flock of birds.

With just three hours' notice to prevent delays to the airline’s schedule, our specialist team worked late into the evening to source a Boeing B737-800 that was located near the operator’s base and could be ready to position fully crewed within 90 minutes.
