Plan your flight with a travel concierge

Understand private jet costs
The main factors that affect the cost of a private plane charter are your choice of aircraft, the number of passengers flying, the fuel usage for the distance you’ll be travelling, and journey costs such as airport handling fees, crew salaries, crew expenses, airport landing fees, handling fees and passenger taxes.
Typically, a flight is cheaper if you travel on a smaller aircraft, but not all small aircraft will be priced the same, and you’ll be more limited on passenger numbers. Certain high-end, luxury light jets can be as expensive to charter as mid-size jets, and the same can be said for the cost of heavy jet charters versus private airliner flights. Since prices are calculated by the aircraft and the route you’re flying and not per passenger, a group charter may be more cost-effective for a larger group.
You will not be able to save costs by hiring a small plane for a long flight. The longer the flight, the larger the plane must be to be able to travel the distance without stopping to refuel. Aside from adding travel time to your journey, there are additional fees included when stopping to refuel. A long-distance flight from Toronto to London would require a mid-size jet such as the Bombardier Learjet 60XR, or a heavy jet, like a Gulfstream G550, depending on your passenger count. If you want to transport a number of key personnel in comfort, you could go even larger with a luxury airliner such as an Airbus A319, which seats up to 19 passengers.
On the other hand, if you didn’t have much luggage, no more than five passengers and weren’t travelling a distance, you could opt for a turboprop such as Piper Seneca, which has a much lower price point.
